Ahead of the 'Unity Message Assembly' scheduled in Dhangadhi tomorrow, the disbanded CPN-S Kailali District Committee has announced that it will not take part in the program of the newly formed Nepali Communist Party (NCP), which comprises 12 constituent groups including the Maoist Center. The committee’s chairman, secretary, and deputy secretary jointly issued a statement confirming their decision.
Chairman Bimal Kumar Joshi informed Nepal Press that 91 of the 121 committee members attended the meeting and decided to remain independent of the unity process. He stated, “Both KP Oli and Prachanda have repeated the old style of unity when convenient and disintegration when not. The current unity further weakens the communist movement, which is why we have resolved not to participate.”
The statement highlighted that although 13 parties are reportedly involved in the current unity, the inclusion of groups lacking a fundamental organizational base renders it meaningless. The committee described the unity as unprincipled, noting it encompasses ministers from the imperial era, groups raising ethnic-religious issues, and entities with non-communist views.
The meeting concluded that the Prachanda-Madhav-led NCP could harm the communist movement and declared that they would not support unity driven by personal interests.
Additionally, the committee criticized KP Oli for leading UML toward dissolution and called for a new organizational approach to preserve and strengthen the communist movement.
